It’s another big weekend here at the Goddess Festival. Tonight is comedy night, lead by Jules Taylor, with a comedy open mic, followed by the comedic stylings of Phunbags!  Afterwards, Snake Eyes & the Bug Band takes the stage to entertain you with their Cajun/Zydeco style.  It starts at 7:00 and this is probably one of those nights you don’t want to miss if you like to laugh and swing.

Saturday we have workshops on tribal belly dance, crystal healing, erotic poetry, the effects of sexual abuse, gender outlaws, and vibrational sound meditation with didgeridoo.  At 5pm is the Spring Equinox Ritual and at 8pm, Fayetteville Stars Shine their Light for your Journey.  Admission to this concert is only $5 and you get three sets of great music, including:

Set 1: Candy Lee Long brings with her soaring, powerful vocals and smart lyrics!
Set 2: Kahula Gypsy Band with their eccentric, ethnic interpretation of world beats!
Set 3: Darlene with her funky, fabulous flair and purpose driven music!

On Sunday we have workshops on holistic healing, time banks, painting,  and fabric collage.  At 7pm is the HOWL Flag n Drag Poetry Slam, where you have to dress in drag to read!  This has the potential to move between uplifting, thought-provoking and hysterical without effort, so don’t miss it.  It’s only $5 to attend; if you want to compete, sign up is at 6:30.

As usual, for complete descriptions of our events, visit http://www.goddessfestival.com/dates.htm

It’s a big, big weekend for The Goddess Festival. Friday night (tonight, tonight, tonight) is the 2010 Goddess Festival CD Release Party at 7:00 pm. The winner of the 2010 theme song will be announced, and you’ll get to hear some truly awesome musicians and a variety of musical styles. See Oxygen Edge, Deviled Eggs, Rob Pressman, Jules Taylor, Jori Costello, Geoff Oelsner, Big Bad Gina and who knows who else might show up for a wave and a shout. The CDs will be on sale as well, so bring your friends!

On a related note, have you been dying for the 2009 cd but lament to find it sold out? There’s ten left, and we’re raffling them off to benefit the Festival. Tickets are $2 or get three for $5 and on March 31, we’ll raffle them all off. It will most likely be the last chance ever to get one, so stop by the info desk or ask a producer for tickets!

On Saturday, along with workshops ranging from altars, shamanic journeys, drum making, and quartz to illuminated journaling, a collage playshop, the Beautiful Daughters film, and the joy of laughter, it will also bring about a night of dancing. If you’d like to learn to do the Hustle, drop by at 7:00 pm. For $10 you’ll be taught by Elayne, the owner of The Art of Social Dancing and idance. At 8:00 pm is our Beat Goes On DJ Dance, featuring DJ Jazzy Jo Jo and The Fresh Chris (I couldn’t resist, Jori). It’s only $5 so come out and have a great time.

On Sunday we’ve got Reiki I, women’s money, The Reason for the Season, shamanism in modern Korea and drum making part two workshops to keep you busy and educated. At 7:00 pm is the absolutely can not be missed Couples Game by Al Lord. TRUST me, if you’ve never been to an Al Lord game show, you will forever hate yourself for missing a chance to see one. She may be one of the funniest women alive, and she always picks a good panel of couples. Plus you’ll get to enjoy a Chocolate Feast hosted by the NWA Center for Equality. It’s simply a can’t miss event. Admission is on a sliding scale from $5 to $25 so bring what you can and enjoy the madness.

As usual, for complete descriptions of our events, visit http://www.goddessfestival.com/dates.htm
