9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Money and the Goddess

Presented by Lynda Campbell. I invite ordinary women, aka Goddesses, to begin their own personal “Money Journal,” a space in which to explore their relationship with money. In the past year I have been keeping such a journal and, especially through collage, have begun to demystify the subject for myself. I am happy to share this journal with participants. Women only, please.

Participant Notes: Preregister by emailing lynca1732@yahoo.com. Fees: $10 due at workshop. Location: Gallery Room.Supplies To Bring: A journal, any art supplies and any collage materials you wish. I will provide some scissors, glue sticks and other supplies for collage.

Presenter Info: I am a lifelong journaler and I rely on my journals for guidance, insight and play. I have led small art journal workshops and love to interact with participants as they make discoveries while creating their journals. At last year’s Goddess Festival I led “The Goddess Letters” workshop. At the time I had the idea of beginning the current money journal. When I began it I was experiencing the familiar fear of not having enough money. I was also dismayed at the worldwide financial crisis. In making the journal, my perspective is shifting. I have a deeper than ever sense of the interconnectedness of people throughout the world. I believe that it is up to us women to change the economic direction. The greatest benefit to me personally is that my relationship with money is evolving – with less anxiety, greater trust and more gratitude for my own abundance.

9:00 am – 11:00 am – Herbal Salve Making

Presented by Cynthia Huelsmann. Learn to make a simple and natural salve/lotion using local herbs/weeds and beeswax. We will go through the whole process step by step, and each participant will get a container of salve to take home with them. You will know exactly what is in it and it will all be natural.

Participant Notes: Preregister by emailing cynhuel@gmail.com. Fees: $10 due at workshop. Location: North Window. Presenter Info: I am a lifelong student of herbal medicine. I have attended many workshops on Herbal Medicine and continue to study and experiment on my own with the guidance of nature all around me. I love working with the simple weeds that grow around me.

1:00 – 5:00 pm – Practical Palmistry

Presented by David Walker. The presentation will be a fun and informative overview of palmistry. David will be discussing many of his own important discoveries in this field. You will also learn about basic structural considerations in relation to understanding personality types, genetic transfer patterns and health implications of the hands. David will discuss the history and present state of palmistry, the misconceptions, superstitions and stereotyping of this virtually untapped aid to self empowerment and medical evaluation. This presentation is a rare opportunity for understanding the knowledge and basic principles behind the art/science. Included will be a full question and answer period. Presentation is one hour followed by palm readings by appointment.

Participant Notes: Preregistration not required but appreciated by emailing pawreader@gmail.com. Fees: None for the presentation. David Walker will be available for private readings immediately following the presentation, and also at scheduled times and by appointment throughout the Goddess Festival. Cost is $48.00 for an hour reading. This includes a recording of the session on a CD. Family rates are available. Location: Gallery Room.

Presenter Info: David Walker began studying Palmistry at the age of 17, influenced by a friend’s father, a hand surgeon, who was interested in the medical implications of different hand types. Eventually over the years Mr. Walker also became fascinated by the accuracy of health-related signals. At 19 he even took a job at a psychiatric ward and covertly studied the patients. Walker specializes in counseling whole families by informing them of their strengths and weaknesses inherent in their individualities. In his practice he has had the opportunity to advise many famous individuals including: Alice Walker (the writer), Jessica Nicholson (Jack’s daughter) , John Sharffenberger (founder of Sharffenberger Cellars wine and chocolate) and Carlos Castena’s personal healer (The book Fire From Within was dedicated to him).

1:00 – 3:00 pm – The journey begins with Gender Rebels

Presented by GenderQueer Book Club. A captivating documentary exploring the lives of three biological females who reject the conventional concepts of gender and see themselves not as female or male, but as something in between. A discussion will follow the film, led by GenderQueer Book Club. GenderQueer Book Club is open to everyone and meets once monthly to discuss works of nonfiction that challenge the model of binary gender.

Location: Main Stage. Presenter Info: GenderQueer Book Club feel they have something to contribute and share about the journey they are taking.

1:00-3:00 pm – Creating a Clay Goddess

Presented by Nancy McShane. Through the ages people have made small representations of the Goddess to use as an object of worship, meditation or decoration. We will use clay to make small goddesses which can be taken home and baked in the oven and turned into an altar decoration, a refrigerator magnet or a charm for a necklace.

Participation Notes: Limit of 15 people. Preregister by emailing nancy_mcshane@att.net. Location: North Window. Ages four and up. Fees: $3 due at workshop. Presenter Info: I have presented crafting classes to children at the public library in Springfield, MO, when I was working as a children’s library assistant.

3:00 – 5:00 pm – Drumming up the Primal Goddess of Rhythm

Presented by Lorna Trigg. Early history shows that Women were the first Drummers. Clay figures of the Goddess excavated around Catal Huyuk from 5600 BC are holding frame drums. Drumming establishes a link between Spirituality and Healing. This interactive Drumming workshop will introduce hand techniques to help connect to the voice of the drum and the natural rhythms of the heart. Frame or Hoop drums as well as Doumbeks are suggested. We will be standing, walking and moving with our drums, so you should be able to hold your drum.

Participant Notes: Preregister by emailing fireomerth@aol.com. Should you need a drum to use, I will have my hand built drums available. You will need to pre-register to book your drum for use during the workshop. Fees: $10 due at workshop. Location: Open Floor.

Presenter Info: Lorna Trigg Hirsch is a Clan Mother, Drummer, Drum Builder and Dancer. Born and raised in South Africa, she worked with and studied dance and drumming with the indigenous people of her home. In 1988 she immigrated to the USA and was introduced to Frame Drumming through a workshop with Lane Redmond. Already invested in indigenous Women’s ceremony, the Frame Drum and later the Ceramic Doumbek styles of playing and ceremonial use captured her attention. Lorna has been handcrafting both Frame and Doumbek style drums for over ten years. She teaches classes in “how to find the voice of the drum” and Bellyogachi, a combination of Yoga, Tai Chi and Bellydance, all “core” movements. Her Women’s Full Moon circles bring Women together to share stories, songs and connection to our ancestors, the Goddesses whose shoulders we stand on.

7:00 pm – Terra Nova Tribal Belly Dance

The troupe will perform a feature length show with numerous dancers and friends, diverse versions of the dance, including acts from other performers.
