March 23, 2010 – Tuesday

6:30 pm – East Coast Swing Dance class – $15 per person

A social partner dance originating from Lindy Hop, it’s easy to learn and looks great on the dance floor. The East Coast Swing was originally done to the hip new Big Band music of the 30s and 40s era. However, a variety of music tempos such as Disco, R&B, Blues, and Pop will be used during these classes – all of which are useful in nightclubs and other social events. This is a basic class designed for the beginner and provides a solid foundation for future dance education. This class is all inclusive – open to diverse couples and the public.

Elayne, owner of The Art of Social Dancing and idance®, travels extensively to study with renowned professionals from NYC’s Broadway to Buenos Aires’ barrios. She has developed her skill and knowledge with celebrated dancers across the globe. Although specializing in Argentine Tango, Elayne’s training in many dance forms allows her the versatility to teach a wide variety of dances. She has toured Italy, France, Ireland, Norway and across the U.S. In Northwest Arkansas, Elayne’s participation in festivals, fundraisers, organizations, schools and theaters has earned her a solid reputation as one who teaches with clarity and enthusiasm. Elayne motivates students to exceed their expectations and strives to bring social dancing into the mainstream of American culture.
