9:00 – 11:00 am – Altars: Guide to creating your own sacred space
Presented by Kathy Skaggs. Group discussion about the spirit of sacred space. We will cover such topics as: altars as a tool for meditation, placement of altars, colors, signs and symbols, and objects of meaning. We will also touch on workplace altars, portable altars, garden altars, windowsill altars, ritual altars, etc. We will discuss altar building as a creative process using sound and scent, fire and light. Ages 10 and up please. We will create a group-built altar with items the participants bring to the workshop. Pack up a small box of things that are symbolic and special to you. Each participant will take home their own copy of the wonderful book “Altars Made Easy” by Peg Streep!

9:00 am – 4:00 pm – Shamanic Journey & Drum Making – Part 1
Presented by Karen Hefner. In this workshop you will learn the basic skills necessary to journey to non-ordinary reality with the help of your spirit guides, and create your own Native American hoop drum. Following the workshop is a drum-opening ceremony to welcome home the spirit of your drum.

Presented by Firehawk. We will be looking at the history of Quartz, where it can be found, how to clean and prepare it for use and much more. We will look at some of the many uses for clear quartz. You will be hard pressed to find any workshop that ROCKs like this one. Location: Central Brick.
Presenter Info: I love rocks; they have a strong presence in my life. I try to keep myself surrounded by gemstones as much as I can. Supplies to bring with you: None, but if you have a crystal you would like to bring, rock on.
1:00 – 3:00 pm – Illuminated Journaling: Getting in Touch With the Goddess Within
Presented by Nancy McShane. Women and ages 13 and up only. Journaling has long been touted as a way to get in touch with your inner life. Illumination adds the element of sketching, artwork, scrapbooking and collage to traditional journaling. This added layer of insight is particularly for women, who are visual creatures.

Presented by Mary Harris Cutting. Come have fun and create/paste and glue your own tangible work of art. This is not just any art. This one will be full of Goddess Archetypes and images of your own design and choice to inspire you daily. For all levels of talent, especially those who presume they have none!

1:00 – 3:00 pm – The Journey Continues with Beautiful Daughters
Presented by GenderQueer Book Club. A fascinating documentary on the first all-transexual production of Eve Ensler’s popular “The Vagina Monologues.” As they prepare for opening night, the women open up about their unique experiences and share the trials and hardships they endured once they made it known that they planned to live their lives as women. A discussion will follow the film, led by GenderQueer Book Club. GenderQueer Book Club is open to everyone and meets once monthly to discuss works of nonfiction that challenge the model of binary gender.

3:00 – 5:00 pm – Laugh for the Health of It
Presented by Karen Stein. All participants will be guided into laughing – creating a feeling of joyful bliss and deep emotional release. Location: Main Stage.
Presenter Info: Born a natural athlete in Springfield, Missouri with a strong connection to nature, I began my earth life. My educational path led me to Joplin, Missouri where I earned a bachelor’s degree in biology, then to Knoxville, Tennessee for my master’s degree in ornamental horticulture. My spiritual path began in Atlanta, Georgia to reclaim myself. I was first inspired by Jon Kabit-Zen through his book, “Where ever you go, there you are!” I discovered and implemented powerful energy medicine such as laughter, hands on healing and the primordial force of the didgeridoo. My unique experience of regularly swimming with wild dolphins in Key West, Florida and living on the beautiful island of Maui has imbibed me with ALOHA spirit.

The line dance called Hustle became an international dance craze in 1975 following Van McCoy and the Soul City Symphony’s song, “The Hustle.” Not to be confused with the Hustle partner dance based on a fusion with swing and mambo which became popular around the same time. This class is all inclusive-open to diverse couples and the public.
