5:00 pm - Art Gallery Opening and Artist Reception
In conjunction with Fayetteville's First Thursdays Gallery Walk, we are delighted to open the 2010 Goddess Festival Art Gallery with a reception for the many artists who have participated in this remarkable and inspiring show. Everyone is invited to attend.
From Our Reception Sponsor: A Festival Dedication
It's hard to believe it was just a year ago that Diana Rivers came into Ultra Studios looking for a venue for a month long festival 'to celebrate the divine feminine'. We hadn't opened for business yet; in fact, we were still immersed in the massive renovations of the building. Her timing was perfect. Somehow we all managed to navigate the completion of the facilities, build a stage for the First Fayetteville Goddess Festival, then convert it into the catwalk for my debut fashion show. Then there was that fun month of all of us cohabitating (the Goddess Festival in the front and Ultra Studios building our fashions in the back).
Today, Ultra Studios is in full swing. We are deep in production of another season of Brooke Benham designs. We have also been expanding the boutique to include more designers and accessories, and are currently hustling to build another collection for The Designers Choice Preview Fashion Show in Little Rock in March. Never the less, I wholeheartedly regretted that we could not host the Goddess Festival again. Not only did I enjoy all the activity, art, workshops, and community, but I have come to know the festival organizers and many of the participants as dear friends and feel part of that same community that found a venue to celebrate all that we are as creative women.
I am honored that the organizers asked Ultra Studios to host the
Opening Evening Celebration in blessing the 2nd Annual Goddess Festival into being.
Brooke Benham, Owner and Designer, Ultra Studios

March 6, 2010 - Saturday
9:00 am - 12:00 pm - Money and the Goddess
Presented by Lynda Campbell. I invite ordinary women, aka Goddesses, to begin their own personal "Money Journal," a space in which to explore their relationship with money. In the past year I have been keeping such a journal and, especially through collage, have begun to demystify the subject for myself. I am happy to share this journal with participants.
Women only, please.
Participant Notes: Preregister by emailing lynca1732@yahoo.com.
Fees: $10 due at workshop.
Location: Gallery Room.
Supplies To Bring: A journal, any art supplies and any collage materials you wish. I will provide some scissors, glue sticks and other supplies for collage.
Presenter Info: I am a lifelong journaler and I rely on my journals for guidance, insight and play. I have led small art journal workshops and love to interact with participants as they make discoveries while creating their journals. At last year's Goddess Festival I led "The Goddess Letters" workshop. At the time I had the idea of beginning the current money journal. When I began it I was experiencing the familiar fear of not having enough money. I was also dismayed at the worldwide financial crisis. In making the journal, my perspective is shifting. I have a deeper than ever sense of the interconnectedness of people throughout the world. I believe that it is up to us women to change the economic direction. The greatest benefit to me personally is that my relationship with money is evolving - with less anxiety, greater trust and more gratitude for my own abundance.
9:00 am - 11:00 am - Herbal Salve Making

Presented by David Walker. The presentation will be a fun and informative overview of palmistry. David will be discussing many of his own important discoveries in this field. You will also learn about basic structural considerations in relation to understanding personality types, genetic transfer patterns and health implications of the hands.
David will discuss the history and present state of palmistry, the misconceptions, superstitions and stereotyping of this virtually untapped aid to self empowerment and medical evaluation.
This presentation is a rare opportunity for understanding the knowledge and basic principles behind the art/science. Included will be a full question and answer period. Presentation is one hour followed by palm readings by appointment.
Participant Notes: Preregistration not required but appreciated by emailing pawreader@gmail.com.
Fees: None for the presentation. Walker specializes in counseling whole families by informing them of their strengths and weaknesses inherent in their individualities.
In his practice he has had the opportunity to advise many famous individuals including: Alice Walker (the writer), Jessica Nicholson (Jack's daughter) , John Sharffenberger (founder of Sharffenberger Cellars wine and chocolate) and Carlos Castena's personal healer (The book Fire From Within was dedicated to him).

7:00 pm - The Couples Game
Remember Al Lord's wildly popular take off from the Newlyweds Game? She's back to host eight celebrity couples representing the diversity of our community, as they compete for the title 2010 Goddess Festival Sweethearts. An evening filled with hilarious surprises prompted by innocent questions. Cheer your favorite couple as you watch them discover what they don't know about each other.
Al Lord is an un-closeted game-show fan who began hosting the Couples Game in 1983 to avoid engaging in small talk at parties. It started as a fun, lesbian-only game in Al's home, then a fundraiser at larger homes and public venues. Through the years several thousand people have watched the game, over 100 have competed, and no one has been injured. Rumors of the game causing couples to break up are highly exaggerated.
Al Lord is a museum director, game-show enthusiast, and social-cause activist who loves to laugh, drink Pepsi, and contemplate her obituary, not necessarily at the same time.
Chocolate Feast during intermission hosted by the NWA Center for Equality. There are many chants that relate to the Divine Feminine, the Goddess in her many forms, and to her place in the web of life. Lead by Cynthia Huelsmann: "I have been chanting for over 30 years. I have attended many workshops and conferences, including singing with Kay Gardner at Michfest for many years, and with Woman with Wings - both in Michigan and Bangor Maine since Kay's passing in 2002. I have attended workshops and sang with Starhawk, Ruth Barrett, Judy Piazza, Robert Gass, and Margot Adler. Top off the evening with the happiest music on earth: Snake Eyes & the Bug Band specialize in their own brand of sound which we call "Bug Music." The best way to describe it might be Cajun/Zydeco music filtered through southeastern Arkansas redneck sensibilities. Bug music is perfect for couple dancing, and it's not unusual for band members to take individual breaks, even mid-song, to grab a partner from the crowd to swing, twirl, and spin for their own (and the crowd's) entertainment.
Jamey Hall - lead vocalist, songwriter, accordionist, and dance instructor
Mike Rickard- lead guitar, vocals
Ray Palmer - fiddle
Robin Rues- string bass, vocals

Presented by Darlene. Exploring, expanding and unlocking the voice through melody, harmony and rhythm in a playful way. No experience needed.

Her vocal range and skills have expanded to encompass just about any kind of keening, chanting or ululation one may be aware of, from operatic soprano to mariachi to Finnish yoiking to throat singing to barnyard animals. Upon realizing that the profession of music left people feeling self-conscious about their own voices and expression, Darlene developed a Workshop intended to help unlock our limitations and allow the voice to express itself once again without the use of words and with a sense of experimentation and playfulness.

You will go home with a further knowledge and comfort with the veil as well as handouts of all the moves you have learned.
Location: Open Floor.
Participant Info: Preregister by emailing dancingduckgirl@gmail.com. Mention 'Grace of a Veil' in the subject line.
Fees: $10.
Presenter Info: I have been a belly dancer for about three and a half years. I took classes from Luna and perform with her at the Iguana Cafe in Tahlequah each month. I love Belly Dance for the grace and freedom felt while losing oneself in the dance. I dance primarily Tribal style but love Cabaret and Gypsy Fusion as well. I have recently begun teaching beginning Belly Dance students in the Tahlequah area. I believe Belly Dance is a wonderful way to express yourself and exercise as well. The veil is my favorite dance prop. The way the veil moves through the air as though an extension of the dancer's arms, to me conveys a grace and beauty beyond other forms of dance.
7:00 pm - Belly Dance Journey
The show will be a journey of different belly dance styles across the Middle East, Europe and the U.S. including American Tribal Style and Cabaret as well as various fusions including Gypsy Fusion. You will see incredible dances with swords, amazing dances with cane and graceful dances with veils! It will be a delight of spinning skirts and jingling bells for all! This will be a free performance so you can show your appreciation to the dancers by tipping after the show!

Presenter Info: From the 1960s to the mid- 2000s my primary work was as a political and spiritual warrior. About five years ago, Spirit called me to make the transition from warrior to elder. I am currently working with the Elders' Circle at Opal Fly's Feel Good Lounge to help facilitate that transformation.
