Our mission is to restore balance in the world, by encouraging exploration of the feminine divine through art, music, words, dance and shared knowledge.
March 10-27, 2011
637 East Joyce Blvd.; Fayetteville, Arkansas
“Restoring the Balance” by Jordan Lynn Gribble
The theme for the 2011 Goddess Festival was “Restoring The Balance.” “In ancient cultures where the Goddess was worshiped both women and men were honored as equals. With the rise of patriarchy many aspects of the Feminine Divine were suppressed and the presence of the Goddess was virtually eradicated. Today, our yearning for equality calls us to rise yet again with our questions and our unrest and to listen to the echoes in our hearts. We have enthusiastically joined in a global reemergence of the Goddess – - a re-discovery of all that has been hidden for centuries. We are seeking to Restore the Balance.”
Daring to hope for spiritual wholeness in the world, we come together to dream, to play, and to create in an atmosphere of respect and acceptance for all – - where the Feminine Divine can be revealed, explored, and expressed. Because March is celebrated in the United States of America as Women’s History month, we believe this to be a perfect time to hold this multifaceted event. This celebration honored the power of the Feminine Divine through art, music, words, dance, film and shared knowledge.
2010 Theme: The Journey Continues
The 2010 Goddess Festival took place on the Square in downtown Fayetteville. We greatly expanded our offerings in workshops, events and visitors. Below you can find some archived information from 2010.
The 2010 Goddess Festival theme song was “Goddesses and Angels” by Christy Lindsay.
From ancient times when the Goddess was worshiped and women were honored; on through the hard years when the Goddess was almost forgotten; and into present times when the Goddess is being remembered and honored in more and more places; The Journey Continues. (Diana)
The invitation to continue this Journey comes from within, calls us to rise yet again – - with our questions and our unrest – - to go beyond what has been charted out for us in the patriarchal religious doctrines and traditions prevalent in today’s society, and to listen to the echoes in our hearts. (Vick)
The second Fayetteville Goddess Festival is proud to participate in this Journey by hosting a month long celebration to honor female divinity and power through art, music, words, dance, film, and shared knowledge. (Diana)
Come join us as we dream, play, and create in an atmosphere of respect and acceptance for all; where the divine feminine can be discovered, explored, and expressed; where we shall dare to hope for spiritual wholeness in the world. (Vick)
2009 Theme: Goddesses, Angels and Amazons
Our first festival, titled The Goddess Festival: Goddesses, Angels, and Amazons, took place during March 2009, and was held at Ultra Studios in Fayetteville, Arkansas. We hosted events for every day of the month. We had an incredible art show, workshops, a labyrinth, Goddess yoga, chant groups, rituals, films, music, drumming, dance, and theater performances.
Below are links to some of our archived 2009 information. We hope that viewing these archives will help you get a feel for what the 2009 festival offered.
